I aprticipate in several discussion groups. Some via E-mail and some on newsgroups. Development feedback groups often seem to "go dark" for a bit. This is an indication that while there are seldom new memebers there are seldom few problems to report. To combat the dark periods there are several good techniques. Here are a couple of suggestions. Contribute positive experiences. These success stories are every bit as valuable as bug reports. Advertise the group in the product help files, logo display, and about box (as applicable). Also include mention of the supprt group in submissions to reviewers. Get the press involved.
