So far I've kept my FAT32 partitions less than 8.4GB - any more than that (2^33 bytes I think), and the cluster size goes from 4K to 8K. Cluster size goes to 16K if your partition is over 16GB. (I'll be glad to switch from FAT32 to NTFS or its successor.) Though, for video stuff, 8GB can be too confining. Even with 8GB partitions, still that's 12 CDs or so, though compression might reduce that a bit. For me, that's still incentive to divide a full HD backup into several backup jobs. Looking into the future though, I figure we'll be using DVD+RW when the media price is not so high in comparison to CDR/RW. jim w.
