Dear Alan: Your scrutiny is much appreciated. At 2001-05-18 02:20, Alan Campbell wrote: >Docs say: > >:*/PZ0 Suppress prompts for directory confirmation on > /CLONE /Z /ZY. OK, the documentation is not very clear on this but not 100% wrong either. What we meant by that was that The /PZ and /PZ0 switches handles the confirmation-prompt-on- a-directory which are related to the deletion of extra file/directory in the destination (which is performed by /Z, /ZY, and/or /CLONE operations). If you do not say anything, the /PZ0 is assumed. When you add /PZ, you will find a new series of confirming prompt at the beginning of extra directory processing in the destination. That was what the documentation was meant to explain. Let me give you an example: Say you have the following directory tree in the target \mydst\ +--\mychild1 | +--xxx | +--yyy | +--\mycild2 | +--\grandson1 | +--\grandson2 and, the source directory \mysrc\ does not have any of these mychild1\ and mychild2\ subdirectories in it. Therefore, when you perform the following command, XXCOPY \mysrc\ \mydst\ /CLONE /PZ Then, the /PZ switch will generate a confirmation prompt at mychild1\, mychild2\, mychild2\grandson1\ and mychild2\grandson2\ as an extra-fine control of which of the extra directories to be deleted or left alone. /PZ0 (which is usually a default setting) will disable /PZ. It's much easier to add /PZ with /CLONE operation and see the prompt in the first place in order to appreciate /PZ0. (to do so, make sure the destination directory has a few "extra" directories). ------------------------------------------------------------- >Not clear that > > "/ZX0 Enables the " APPNAME "X settings. A careless editing work... The section should read /ZX Ignores of the Environment Variable XXCOPYX /ZX0 Enables the XXCOPYX settings. Good for /CLONE and /RMDIR. The shortcut /CLONE and /RMDIR contain /ZE as a component. e.g., /CLONE/ZX0 allows the use of XXCOPYX settings. Kan Yabumoto ========================================================================
