Hi Yours is the first group I've ever even considered joining and this is my first attempt at a submission. This should tell you just how important XXCOPY is to me. I could not automate the complex backup and synchronisation required between home and the school in which I teach. Many, many thanks to Kan Yabumoto and Pixelab for creating XXCOPY and allowing me to use it. I suppose I am a lurker (very descriptive word) but I do object to being made to feel guilty about it. Considering the level of expertise in this group I am a little concerned about being shot down. What is a typical XXCOPY user? Are you all IT professionals? Can you all type in XXCOPY commands, using esoteric switches, without reference to the documentation? I can't. All of my hourly and daily backups and synchs are done using /YY (bomb proof) batch files. Weekly, monthly and one-off commands are stored in an annotated text file and are pasted into the command line when required. One query I had was whether I can use two exclusion specifiers at once, rather than using an exclusion list file. For example: /Xd:\dir1 \ /Xd:\dir2\ This seems to work but is it bomb proof? Is this level of discussion too trivial for this group? I hope this group survives and have recommended it to the only other person I know who uses XXCOPY. Could the problem be due, not to the lack of publicity about the group, but the lack of awareness of the existence of XXCOPY itself? I found it by chance among shareware backup utilities.
