I may be all wet here, but isn't there always a lot of problems when copying an operating system from one hardware environment to another, which I think is what Jason is doing here. I had tried copying my WIN98 laptop operating system to a PC clone harddrive and making it the primary partition, but my recollection is that it would not boot. Even with plug and play would there not be a lot of drivers that would need to be installed to accommodate the new hardware and operating environment? ...Dan ==================== ----- Original Message ----- From: jason To: Sent: Friday, June 01, 2001 6:18 PM Subject: [xxcopy] copy HD for other sytem > I finished copying my window 98se from a Hewlett Packard, to a HD for > a old armstrong microsystems 1997. > return message > cannot find devicefile that may be needed to run windows or windows > application. > the windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to the device file, > but the device file no longer exists. > > c:\windows\sytem\vmm32\ifsmgr.vxd > > when i looked in my window system vmm32, there is no ifsmgr > > i know i have some cd-writer and other HP applications . how can i > take care of this > > > > To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: > xxcopy-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com > > > > Your use of Yahoo!
