To Kan and all the rest who took the time and effort to answer all my questions, I thank you very much. For those not familiar with my project, you can look back. The best laid plans of mice and men, really went astray this time. I got my new PC, made sure that everything I wanted was installed on my old HDD and that it booted properly on the old system, etc. Since both OS were 98SE, I didn't expect any problems...HA! HA!. I opened the new box, easily installed the old HDD, expecting to have those programs I needed available to copy from what would now be D: to C:. Well, although DOS recognized the second HDD and system devices showed it loaded properly, and Western Digital diagnostic program showed ok, as well as msinfo and more....Windows refused to recognize it. Since I don't want to take as much time writing this as it took me to figure it out, I will give you the punch line. Perhaps it may save someone a bit of headache. I had forgotten that because my old PC did not recognize a HDD over 8gb, and the one I was using was 20gb, I had to install the ez-bios overlay program on my old PC. Much to my chagrin, it did want to load in the new machine and no simple changes were possible, so I put it back in the old one, re-formatted and then used my backup HDD on the old PC to xxcopy everything. After installing it back into the new machine...bingo. Computers are evil! Thanks again for all the attention. burris
