About the Files Section of the XXCOPY group:

When I uploaded the latest beta release version for
download by the XXCOPY Group members, I had a choice on
whether or not to allow non-members to access the download
files. I made a conscious decision to make the download
feature as "for-Members-only", even though I made the whole
discussion (the message and the past archived messages)
public (non-members also can access).

Here's my justification: In order for this group to be
successful, the membership must be substantially higher than
the current level In early days, I was raising much noise
about this issue on this board. So far, most members are
just a passive reader and apparently, nearly all members came
here from my Email invitations. That has to change.

Although browsing the group does not require a membership.
I believe keeping it "closed" to the outsiders is not how to
attract new members. But, the convenience of downloading
the latest beta version (and other goodies) from this board
may entice a mere browser to become a member, and hopefully
see their own messages posted in here one day...

More promotions of this group:

We are placing more "banner" ads on our own XXCOPY web pages,
and the README.TXT file in the new beta test version has a
paragraph describing this group. Hopefully, this will bring
in new members to this group --- but, the rate increase due
to these effort is expected to be relatively small.

I'm sure you guys want to see more people's postings than
Kan Yabumoto's half-broken English (sorry, my native language
is Japanese and although I have spent the great majority of
my adult life in the US, I make too many grammatical errors :-(
It's kind of funny that little kids speak perfect English!!!
However, let me assure you that my C language in the XXCOPY
source files (now close to 1MB, 23,000 lines of code) has
NO grammatical error (not even a single compiler warning)!!!
(Alas, it has much semantics and algorithmic errors which are
called bugs.)

What we need is more active participation by more members to
actively engage in conversing. (And yes, if you guys go out
and bring more XXCOPY converts at various newsgroups that would
be super!!!)

Isn't is boring to see days go by without anything from this group?
Is it why you are here?

Anyway, with the new beta release version, we have a reason to
send a "promotional" Email to a very selected XXCOPY users.
Hope that will bring us to the top of the group (we are just
a few people short before becoming # 1)
