Dear Inventor:

No. You can't directly boot from the backup directory the way
you made it. It has to be at the root level

XXCOPY C:\ D:\ /CLONE (... more switches as you like...)

But there are more to it than meets the eye.
The best place to find out how to make a bootable backup drive,
read the following article:
