My guess is that your primary drive is an IDE and the clone is a SCSI. Not having had a SCSI HDD I can't say with certainty, but there may be an option to boot from your SCSI device in your BIOS, if your SCSI card supports bootable devices - or your SCSI BIOS has this facility built in. On rereading your msg, you state that computer would not boot.
