I've scanned the messages here and perhaps I'm the only one wanting to use XXCOPY this way. Here's my scenario: I run Win2000Professional on my main machhine. Connected to it via LAN is my laptop with Win/Me running. When I travel I like to synch several hundred files in several folders between these two computers. For years (before WIN2000) I used XCOPY to do that but discovered because of the notorious time-granularity issue between NTFS and FAT it would no longer work. That is, it saw files as different even though they looked identical (and were identical) in directory listings. XXCOPY to the rescue. With all the additional switch capabilities this problem would be solved. But, no. When I use this instruction (where C: is my desktop and H: is my laptop): xxcopy c:\download\ h:\download\ /bi/ft/s/nx0/q/yy the process works; the later files in c:\download and below are copied to the proper folders on H:. If I run it again immediately, I expect no files to qualify -- but XXCOPY copies them all again. Apparently the file date/time stamp is perceived as different between the two OSes even when they are the same. Heck, I'd settle for the time comparison to stop at the nearest minute! (Maybe a /FM switch?) So I downloaded the beta version and tried the /fr switch instead (and also in conjunction with the /ft switch) and the results were the same (actually worse since the beta version nags me on every line that I'm apparently using a switch reserved for the Pro edition and suggesting that I purchase a copy). I will buy a copy of Pro IMMEDIATELY as soon as I can figure out how to do this $$^$%%#% synchronization! Any ideas? Chaz
