Dear fellow XXCOPY Groupies.

With Yahoo Groups's database update made this afternoon, our group,
the XXCOPY discussion group has become the Number 1 group in the
category.

It is all of our interest in making this group grow in the membership
so that messages are posted by more diverse background in user
experience.

Of course, if you look at the category (Software > Backup), there are
only 22 groups in it. This group was stared by Jim Witherspoon.
This was your brainchild. Had we stayed in the original category
(Jim handed over the moderator responsibility of this group a few
week later), we would be ranked at 95th position out of 659 groups.
We have come a long way. Jim, are you listening?

The composition of the current members in this group is mostly
from an invitation that I sent by Email. And, while I'm committed
to spend substantial time on this group until it becomes viable
all by itself, I really need to reduce my involvement in this
group so that I can spend more of my time on XXCOPY development.

What we need is a core XXCOPY "experts" in this group who can
engage in exchange of ideas and to keep this group "active".
I have been quite paranoia on the possible fate that the group
will stagnate and gradually lose members.

My near term plan for this group is that we will make the current
beta test version an official release pretty soon. At that
time, the new main XXCOPY web page will be much like the one
for the beta test page

And, we will put more links to the group in a prominent way
that more visitors will show up in this group. We need a
membership level of 1000 or more to make this long lasting.

I'm sure the occasional announcements of a new release and its
aftermath discussions will make this group somewhat interesting.
Of course, I realize everybody in this group has his/her own work
and this group cannot occupy the center of attention.

But, friendly off-topic conversation may be even welcome.
And if this group lasts 5 years (which is an eternity in this
business), we cold have a convention to meet one another!!!
