I'm still amazed by what all XXCOPY can do, and I've barely scratched the surface. I'm also very impressed by the support Kan continues to provide here. In fact, I've gone ahead and registered my XXCOPY program to, in turn, support Kan's efforts on this list. I do have another question... given a large directory of files, is there any easy way of moving a set of N files into separate subdirectories 001, 002, etc., where N = 1000? I know I can make a batch file that has 36 commands, one for each starting letter or digit, but that results in an uneven distribution. How would I more evenly distribute the files? If anyone has already done something like this, please let me know. Otherwise, I think it can be pieced together using the DOS 'for' command, XXCOPY, and a 'counting' batch file. I'll post my results here, if there's interest. Regards, Joseph Maddison Minneapolis, MN
