Fdisk /mbr only operates on the current c: drive, but if the partition is primary and active, and you have performed a SYS C: with no errors to the replacement drive then it should boot. What is the error message exactly? Is the HDD the only HDD in the PC? Is the master/slave relationship correct? Can you perform a DIR C: after booting from floppy disk and see the correct drive and files in the root?
