Before you ask, I have myself copied files to a freshly fdisked partition which had not yet been formatted and suprisingly they copied without error, before I realised my omission. Copying across the network should not corrupt files, and if the SYS command is successful and the partition is indeed primary and active then it should boot. Was the drive bootable prior to the clone operation? What size is the HDD? Fdisking and formatting on a different machine can affect the HDD operation when the HDD geometry was detected differently by each machine. I would hazard an opinion that modern PC's set to auto detection should not suffer from this problem. If you can see the files then this shouldn't be an issue.
