This is in reply to Dan Anderson (message 547 which I seem to have lost.) I had intended to send this yesterday, but other things got in the way. In answer to your questions: 1. Win NT4 (which I had before) and Win 2K both allow for dual booting. I installed DOS on the 'C' drive - in fact it was there already - and installed Win NT on the 'D', the install (NT and 2K) took that into account and built the dual boot. 2. The message says, "Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: D:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM (the name of the file is SYSTEM - there is no extension.) Additional research tells me I can't copy that file. I get a 'sharing conflict' when I try to just copy it. I feel certain xxcopy has the same problem. So that's the issue. I am not aware of a switch in xxcopy to bypass the 'sharing conflict.' Probably because I haven't tried using xxcopy for very long. 3. The new drive was an new, out-of-the-box drive, I didn't think Scandisk was necessary. 4. The 'C' drive is FAT16, the rest are NTFS in both the old config and the new. What is the 'C' drive in the new configu- ration is FAT16 and the rest are NTFS also. 5. Dual boot is as in 1. It works, it's after the boot selection that I have problems - the actual loading of Win 2K. Boot to DOS works just fine. Thanks for the interest. Mike Richardson
