Thanks for clarifying Mike. When you said you followed Kan's advice and xxcopy 'worked like a champ', I drew the wrong conclusion that you decided to take steps to bypass the SFN preservation warning message. (You've clarified in a separate direct note just now that your re-run did not generate any more warning messages because you continued on from where you had stopped your initial run and xxcopy did not have any problems completing the processing in the normal way). Although Kan mentioned that nothing bad would happen if you said 'no' to the warning message, he also commented at length about saying 'yes' and noted that the warning message was probably due to the temporary internet explorer files, it did not matter if those files had their SFN preserved, the warning message was originally designed for purposes of CDRs and NTFS, and using /NX0 would not only bypass the warning message, but would also speed up the processing time and involved 'small risk'. So I guess I was confused about what advice you had followed. I guess my warning message should be directed to any others like me who might have drawn the wrong conclusion from a quick read.
