Do keep in mind that this was written long before XP was released. However, the principles remain the same. >I'm quite interested in knowing why he recommends >NetBEUI rather than TCP/IP. I chose to use NetBUI based upon the recommendation of one of my co-workers who had much more experience than myself. > >To summarize, the full command line might look like: > > > >.\bin\dcopy32 "u:\Documents and Settings" "t:\lwk\Documents and Settings" > >/bu/x*.swp/x*.par/x"*\Temporary Internet Files\*\*" /onerror.log%3 > > > >where u: has been mapped to \\lwk\c What you said is what I suspected - I was not fully qualifying the paths. How about if I just add the trailing back slashes to the source and destination paths. .\bin\dcopy32 "u:\Documents and Settings\" "t:\lwk\Documents and Settings\" /bu/x*.swp/x*.par/x"*\Temporary Internet Files\*\*" /onerror.log%3 I don't want to fully specify the 'temporary internet files' path because its position changes, depending upon who set up the target machine and what OS that machine is running. For example, one machine has \\Rec\e\My Documents\TempInternetFiles\Temporary Internet Files ; another has \\Lwk\c\Documents and Settings\Larry Kelly\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files The one thing that is common to all the machines is that the directory I want to exclude is titled 'Temporary Internet Files'. I've read and re-read most of the tech notes that you have written but I still get confused on occasion. The problem I had previously was that I did not know what to include within the double quotes when trying to specify a directory with embedded spaces. Thanks to Kan, I've got that out of the way. Thanks again for the incredibly quick and detailed response! dwayne -- Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax Celebrating 18 years of Engineering Innovation (1984 - 2002) .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .- `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' Do NOT send unsolicited commercial email to this email address.
