Well Ken as regards file backups in entirety, I was'nt referring to your xxcopy, I was referring to the old xcopy32. Myself and others tried backing up all files with it, then just checking the properties of the HD c: drive to see if the backup bytes count more or less equaled what was on the harddrive. We did that with zips, supderidks, etc to see if it actually got everything. The byte counts of the backup volume and the original byte count on the c: drive prior to the attempt was a huge difference. Not just one or 2 files or even just a dozen or so I'm talking about many more than that. It was determined that when in windows then dropping down to dos7 to do the above using xcopy, there were too many files still active in windows and were not handled because they apparently were still active even though we tried it from dos. With xxcopy is something new and we havent even got that far yet with it. Dont know what you mean exactly "using xxcopy thru a dos window". We did it the only way practial to do it. In windows, go to start, then RUN, then type in the command line xxcopy c:\ f:\ /clone /yy /sp (of course using DirectCD not easy CD creator!). If the /yy switch is not used then we would be prompted over and over endlessly (as I understand from your documentation). This would make xxcopy an excruciatingly painful way to do a file backup. It appeared to be doing the job nicely till it came to the "disk full" "insert new disk" prompt. At that point "touching any key" would produce no further action. We tried this on CD-R/W's that were formatted to receive data. No joy!! We tried again on CD-R's that were setup with DirectCD to be treated as any disk for data. Still no joy!.
