It's still hard for me to throw that extra 'X' in there after all these years of using xcopy. However, as soon as I want to do something the least bit complicated, I always use xxcopy. Which is main reason why I was clueless that XP's version of xcopy has some new switches. With that in mind, I have become accustomed to the xxcopy switches and really do not want to re-learn its syntax each time Microsoft improves their version. While it has been admirable that xxcopy has retained backwards compatibility, it has also imposed limitations that could have been avoided. This end result is that in rare cases (which escape me right now), xxcopy has perpetuated some of xcopy flaws and/or limitations. I agree with Kan, enough is enough. Let's keep the switches the way they are and furthermore, let's open up the opportunity fix some of the issues that we never liked (if there are any remaining). Since I was the one that ran into the /NP problem, it goes with out saying, I think that should be the default behavior. I can always revert back to the way it is now if I need that functionality. rotaiv.
