Hi all ... I'm very new to XXCOPY having only installed it today. I will try not to bore you with fundamental questions any more than I absolutely need to. First, I had been doing some reading up on the cloning method to backup my entire C drive. I have set up and run my first backup with no errors using XXCOPY C: D:\BackupC /clone On running the same command a second time, I got to the "press any key to start copying" prompt and when I pressed the key, I got a series of Directories one at a time with a "Delete" Y/N/A. I had to press the N about 30 times to answer No to the delete. It then went ahead and processed the balance of the C drive with no problem. As I wanted to run this under Task Scheduler for a new backup every night, I was trying to find a command to get me past the "press any key ..... " so the backup could continue. I had no luck with that (I am totally illiterate at XXCOPY switches etc. at this point). I was reading Yan's TB#10 (which I had printed out) and became very interested in his explanation of what the clone command really covered (all those switches that are activated using the clone command). The /zy switch seemed like it may avoid the Press any key ... prompt and possibly the need to say No to all those deletions... so I replaced the /clone command with all the switches mentioned in the "explanation". I left out the /zy switch and then ran it. Sure enough, the prompt was gone and no directories to save from deleting. I ran it a few times and all seemed OK. I have now scheduled it under Task Scheduler, but I would like to hear anyone's thoughts on this setup as I haven't been able to find any info on this as yet (there is a lot of reading to do when I get time). Feel free to flog me for my actions if it warrants it!! I will be grateful for any responses. Thank you ... Howard
