Hi, all: I was away from my office for a few days and I found there was a discussion about CD-RW's Disk-Full condition. It is my wild guess that it is one of many bugs in DirectCD. That is, DirectCD (from Adaptec/Roxio) reports an invalid (or less) value when the system inquires about the remaining space on the volume. Furthermore, the same bug probably does not exist in Ahead's InCD (bundled with their NERO software). In general, we found InCD a much better product than DirectCD. To solve the Disk-Full problem, use the /CK0 switch that disables the pre-write checking of the disk space on the destination. This behavior is not that bad (actually many simple-minded copy programs such as Microsoft's COPY command do just that). With /CK0, XXCOPY skip the pre-write testing and proceed to copy the file. When an out-of-space condition fails the file-copy operation, XXCOPY will delete the partially- copied file. This behavior is what the COPY command (and many other programs) does. The XXCOPY default behavior is to avoid this scenario by checking the remaining space on the destination volume first (which we believe is a preferred behavior). My recommendation is, if you are using the DirectCD (bundled with EasyCD Creator) but have a choice (access to the NERO package), use the NERO (and InCD) software whenever you can.
