Hello, Kan, We wish to report a time-change phenomenom, and to ask if you have any suggestions. Our server, the remote, is Windows 2000. After switching to Standard Time, local Windows XP machines were OK (their files had the same dates & times as the remote). Windows 98 locals had dates & times one hour off from those on the remote, even using the UT reporting switch. All machines had proper regional settings. This is the observation I recorded for the chief engineer: --- begin --- SERVER FILES AND TIME CHANGE Monday, October 28, 2002 We observed the following on this Monday following the change back to Standard Time: Computers with operating systems other than 2000, NT, or XP asked for the time change to be confirmed. Computers with OSes 2000, NT, or XP did not ask for confirmation. Files on the local computers with OSes other than 2000, NT, or XP had dates one hour younger than their matching files on the server (Win2000); e.g., a file on the local might have a time 09:06 and the matching master file would be 08:06. When dutil was run on a local, ALL files were recopied to the local. When mastliu was run, the source files from the public (T:) drive copied over the matching files on the master: their file dates were one hour younger than the matching files on the master. The corresponding files on the Tinsley master were one hour different (younger) than those on ASML's master. --- end --- Melissa Evans ASML Optics, LLC Richmond,California
