I just bought a (1) USB2 drive kit, that lets you put a IDE drive in an external enclosure, and use it as a USB2 storage device; and (2) a 160GB Western Digital hard drive. I put (2) inside of (1), and tried using XXCOPY to /CLONE files from my C: drive to the "USB2 drive". Every time, it terminated with a "fatal error" reported by XXCOPY. Does XXCOPY have any known problems with this kind of arrangement? Of course, the problem could be anywhere - my USB 2.0 card/drivers, my USB cable, the IDEUSB hardware inside the box. Also there is the 137GB limit to be concerned with. I set the "EnableBigLba" registry value to enable a single 160GB partition, but then my USB kit said that USB2 supports only up to 127GB. So I repartitioned, still got the fatal error from XXCOPY. I was running 2.82.6. Also - I did get the message from XXCOPY that a DLL had changed, etc. etc. "A new Operating System environment is detected". Just downloaded 2.82.7. Will try that. Any ideas? If I can't get this USB2 drive kit working reliably, I still have a few days to return it! jim
