Does this happen only on peer-to-peer networks? I've set up a server running NT4.0, and don't have this problem connecting between my 95, 2000, and XP machines (provided that the server is up and running). I can even invoke a backup copy command from one PC to the server, all the while running the command from a third machine, so there is no problem with xxcopy directly accessing a file/directory on another machine using just the command prompt.
