Hi, all. Rick rote: > Get their phone numbers call them on the phone > and threaten them with physical violence. Yes, It's about time for us to do something. But, Yahoo tries very hard not to let anyone contact them. You don't even get any Yahoo employee's email address :-( AFAK, the only way to contact them is through their feedback form on their site. So, that is what I just did. This morning, I received a new-member notification (that I chose the setting to report me all such activities) about this "12-letter-man" who obtains the 12-letter @Yahoo.com email address and just signed up to become a legitimate member. After some delay, he will post his spam. I did do some homework. From his previous work, I identified about 10 or so IP addresses many of which are repeated. I'm pretty sure if Yahoo decides to get serious on this guy, Yahoo should be able to catch this guy (they may need FBI's search warrant). After some analysis, I found that the 12-letter name is not random at all. It's a permutation of alphabet that started at A and now he is at N. The latest one is nxhjkmhhvxad . But, it is more natural to think he did not start at 12 letters. It was probably something like 6-letter or so and once all the permutations are exhausted for the length, his script will automatically go to the next length (13-th and it will remain there for several years unless he increases the volume of his activities --- by installing more T1 lines to his access --- I'm more inclined to believe he is stealing someone else's bandwidth altogether). Since I'm dealing with his script in action, not his own personal efforts on each one, it is a losing battle --- I manually responding to his programmed behavior??? In the past, I was removing such a member even before he (I mean his program/script) has chance to post the spamming message. But, to help the Yahoo people chase this guy, I will let Yahoo people gather more info that will lead their search of the perpetrator to his office. So, please expect a few spamming message that may appear on this group shortly (probably later today). Thank you for your understanding. But, we want this guy put behind bars. I'm serious. I've already spent a few hours at least this morning on this matter :-( But, I feel I'm responsible for the well being of you, the loyal XXCOPY users who put up with my daily blabbings and all this. Currently, here's the stats of this group: Members who subscribe individual mails 122 Members who get daily digests 51 Members who accept special notices 45 Members who get no emails 230 ---------------------------------------------- Total (in the database) 448 This number is substantially lower than the official membership count (578). At any rate, I appreciate all of your support on XXCOPY and this discussion group, especially those who subscribe to this mailing list and I feel quite responsible for the spamming that we all suffer.
