I have a CD burner but maybe some of these suggestions might help. 
Have you tried more than one disk that you know is successfully 
formatted and files successfully copied to? Is the problem only with 
DVDs or both CD-RWs/DVDs? In Win98 (don't know about your system) you 
can check the device manager to see if the drive letter is entered 
correctly in the check boxes. I had a problem once with 2 different 
letters entered. Have you tried an xxcopy command in the Run command 
and then the same one in a batch.bat file? I assume you have tried 
to copy files with simple short names. With CD-RWs I sometimes check 
over carefully the InCD/DirectCD settings for formatting the disks.
