I am not yet educated enough to relate to your question, but I hope to avoid all "drop and drag" processes. By "proper burn", do you mean a command line execution using these packet writing tools? Or some other process that I am not familiar with? > Sincerely, > Marek Hi, Marek. Using Roxio Easy CD Creator, which should be the same I believe for any other CDR application, there are two methods in which you can choose to burn a CD. A complete burn, in which the entire CD is formatted using CDFS (CD File System) in "one pass". This allows you to use/read the CD in any PC that has a CD ROM drive. The problem with this method is that once you've completely burned a CD, the CD is closed and annot be written to again. So, if you only save, let's say, 100mb, you end up loosing the remaining 600mb. The other method is to use the CD as if it actually is another hard drive - the Direct CD (or "packet write") method. This uses special formatting proprietary to the CD application, and allows you to drag-and-drop (or copy-and-paste) files as required. This therefore allows you to use up only the file size that is being burned, and you can do this time and time again until the CD is filled. This is a good method for backing your files, however, the drawback to using this option is that unless another PC uses Roxio's product (Direct CD), the CD will not be able to be read. (or, if you PC ever gets wiped out, you will have to install the Roxio product again before you'll be able to read from you backup CD's. Hope this helps, Martin I used to have an open mind, but my brains kept falling out.
