Older DirectCD versions (1 or 2 yrs. old) weren't very good. Now, I've found the DirectCD/InCD programs reliable when successfully installed including all the updates, but not *BOTH* at the same time. The InCD/DirectCD driver conflicts in Win98/ME are *MOSTLY* in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS\. Please *DO NOT DELETE* any of the files there because you may not be able to get into Windows even in safe mode. Nero/InCD has precise info http://www.nero.com/en/content/helptool/139.htm#o139 on identifying and *RENAMING THE EXTENSIONS* of only the related .VXD files. You can't just rename the .VXD's anyway you feel like it! Refer to the URL above for this problem if you try to reinstall. I'm not responsible if something goes wrong!!! This URL http://www.nero.com/en/index.html#c1002822798638 is a good place to start if you have other related problems to the one above. For me it's using xxcopy in batch to backup to CD-RW's. I just hit a mapped key on my keyboard and watch xxcopy go to work! I often backup files I'm working on in the moment and xxcopy and CD- RW's are great for that. dayvah49 --- Charles Knox wrote: ----snip---- > InCD refused to install until DirectCD was uninstalled -- which it > had been, via the Adaptec/Roxio uninstaller, and several months > earlier.
