Torben: It's hard to say exactly what is going on. Obviously, the error message you saw is not from the code that we supplied in the XXCOPY program. So, let us take it at the face value. That is, whichever giving you the message is complaining about hidden sectors and their checksums. My wild guess is that the volume (the partition which is part of the bootstrap procedure) is configured with hidden sectors. I don't know what disk-initialization software makes such sectors. Since it is apparently broken, I would go back and re-initialize the whole volume once again, using only the "official" tools from Microsoft. I'm aware that there are many third-party tools to substitute the FDISK.EXE and FORMAT.COM programs, but in light of this problem, I would not use non-Microsoft tools to do this. I wonder if you really went through the /CLONE article, step-by-step without any deviation. In our experience, nearly all problems were a result of user's uninformed assumption (e.g., you may skip the disk-formatting step, etc.) and not following every step prescribed in the article. http://www.xxcopy.com/clone Please go back to Square One and follow the instruction. You should start with FDISK, followed by FORMAT, before running the XXCOPY /CLONE command. That is, the simple /CLONE operation alone is not sufficient to successfully create a bootable system Win9X disk.
