Having done the cloning, where olddrive was master on the channel, and newdrive was slave, I simply interchanged the slavemaster drive jumpers and powered on. >From then on the clone operation copied from newdrive to oldrive. No changes in activation etc. needed. I make sure the primary (bootable) partitions in both drives are the same size, so that I won't run out of space. Using W98.
