Duncan Murdoch has a program called 'DOSLFNBK', which scans and creates a backup file holding the long filenames that correspond to the short filenames. Run it, backup up the system, including the name backup file, restore the disk, restore the longfilenames from the backupfile (again with doslfnbk). Just the scenario it was written for. http://www8.pair.com/dmurdoch/programs/ [1] c:\c\junk>doslfnbk /? DOSLFNBK 2.5b Copyright (c) 1995,2000 D.J.
