I think you will find that the go-back feature in XP is a worthwhile tool. If you take the backup partition file and simply copy it to a set of CDs I think your initial needs will be met. Win XP does behave quite differently. If you are running batch files for your XXCOPY uses then you may need to very carefully test those batch files under XP.
