Correct... I am attempting to backup the directories with timestamps intact from the DOS 5 machine. As this is the last working MO drive in our shop, I am reluctant to move it or attempt upgrading of the OS on the 486 it is in. > have to give up the idea of duplicating the directory > structure on the source (MO-drive) volume and copy the > whole thing including the directory time to the > destination under DOS. OK, from what you said above, XXCOPY16 (which does function under DOS 5) is not able to duplicate directory timestamps. Then you go on to state that I can copy the 'whole thing including the directory time' under DOS. Can you elaborate what you mean here? I guess I'm just a little confused by what you said here. > On the other hand, if the MO-drive works like a file system > (like DATMAN ---- our product, see at www.datman.com) > under WinNT/2000/XP, then, you can use XXCOPY to duplicate > the timestamps of the directories. Again, some confusion here, but I'll elaborate on the setup. The machine in question is a 66MHz 486 with 8MB of RAM running DOS 5.0. It has two SCSI cards installed - one Corel SCSI adapter using Corel SCSI 2.0 to control the Maxtor RXT-800S MO drive. The other SCSI card is an Adaptec 1542 with the Jaz drive connected externally. Both the MO drive and the Jaz drive are accessible from DOS drive letters (D: for the MO, E: for the Jaz). Given this setup, is there any way I can backup D: to E: and retain the directory timestamps from the MO cartridges? Any help is appreciated - thanks! Dale
