Thanks in advance. I am running > in dos prompot of winxp pro. Those commands should do what you expect. Are you sure it is every file that is re-copied or just some of them? I haven't heard of a case where every file is re-copied. What is the D: drive? There can be a timestamp granularity issue with copying between different disk formats (FAT->NTFS), network drives and CD-RW's. Use /FF to see whether that resolves the problem. There can also be an issue with short filename matching on some CD-RW formats. Use /NX0 to see whether that resolves the problem. Garry
