The following post from Kan suggests that the "job too large" error is most likely to be associated with xxcopy16 due to limited memory available. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xxcopy/message/3052. Either way, here's a couple of suggestions: Try running the /clone operation again. The copy will pick up pretty much where it left off i.e. any files previously copied will be skipped. If that still fails (and it may do), split the copy into sections based on the number of files to be copied. If you have a huge number of files in each of say 5 directories, clone those directories individually e.g. xxcopy c:\bigfolder1\ d:\targetfolder\bigfolder1\ /clone xxcopy c:\bigfolder2\ d:\targetfolder\bigfolder2\ /clone etc. You may have a signigicant number of temporary files that you really don't want to copy anyway. Typical culprits are internet cache files and files in various temp directories. You can either clean these up beforehand (best option) or exclude them from the copy however I'm not sure that the latter will relieve the "job too large" condition. To exclude say the temp and cache directories try: xxcopy c:\ d:\targetfolder\ /clone /X*\cache\ /X*\temp\ To clean up the cache directories, use Internet Explorer-Tools- Internet Options-Temporary Internet Files-Delete Files. To clean up the temp directories, use explorer to locate them then you can pretty much delete anything you find there. As for the error relating to "invalid command.com" this is usually fatal and indicates that a program (presumably xxcopy) has overwritten a critical area of system memory. A re-boot is usually the only reliable fix to this. Garry
