Both myself and my W98 friend are copying from Fat 32 to Fat 32. 

Also, my friend has now tried to use XXCopy on a XP home system and 
also got many (100+ ?) failures that were persistent. I know the 
source was NTFS, but I don't know about the target. I'll check to 
see if he was copying from NTFS and FAT. 


Thank for your other remarks about the about the locked files. 
That's what I thought was happening, it's just that something in the 
literature led me to believe XXCopy could (using clone) make an 
entire bootable copy -- at least it would do this in W98 if not XP. 
Apparently it can't do this.

PS Is there a way to stop these messages from shattering 
(inappropriate line breaks)? They look fine in preview but shatter 
when posted. What does preview mean if it isn't what it looks like 
posted?
