Sig lines are an accepted part of usenet and their content should
not be troublesome, assuming reasonable decorum. However they
should be preceded by a sig marker "-- " exactly alone on a line,
and should not exceed 4 lines of 80 chars max. This allows the
marker and anything following to be automatically deleted on
reply. This is one more reason to not top-post.

The example you showed was only objectionable in that it lacked
the sig marker and was top-posted. Some fouled up mail/news
readers remove the essential trailing blank, because their authors
(or firms) seem incapable of following standards.
