(again) please. What we are most afraid is the fatal error. Fortunately, the SEH (Structured Exception Handing) technique that Microsoft incorporated in Win32 is invaluable in handling such a situation. We have developed a special version with tracer in XXCOPY which will dump some tracing info which allows us to pinpoint the cause of the problem (to locate the exact machine instruction which causes the problem). This is an iterative process (hopefully, two, possibly three tests). Please download the following file: http://www.xxcopy.com/download/xt2844a.zip This is a XXCOPY-Pro version with the built-in tracing feature. It is a direct replacement of the standard XXCOPY-Pro executable file. Therefore, the file need a password to unzip. Please use the same password that you used for the standard version. --------------------------------------------------------- This is not a freeware version. If you are a freeware user, please let us know in private email. --------------------------------------------------------- The program is named 'XTCOPY.EXE" (rather than XXCOPY --- the T stands for tracing). You should place it in the same directory where the XXCOPY.EXE file is stored. If you run XTCOPY.EXE in place of XXCOPY.EXE everything should behave exactly the same (except it may run slightly slower). The major difference is that after it encounters a fatal crash, it will dump some tracing info on the console. Then, capture the text on the screen and send it to us. (In the DOS Box, you should be able to mark an rectangle area by the mouse and capture the text.) The tracing info in the first round will give us pretty good idea as to which section of the XXCOPY program caused the crash. We will then create anther generation of the tracer version for you to test. The tracing info gathered with the second version should hopefully give us sufficient info as to why it crash.
