I suggest taking a peek at Knoppix. Knoppix lives entirely on a CD and as long as your PC can boot from a PC knoppix doesn't even care if you have a hard drive. Once you have Knoppix on CD you can yse it to view your hard drive and although I haven't tried to do it I think Knoppix would not mind copying your hard drive completely and the files to another drive. --- Kan Yabumoto wrote: > > Robert Alderman wrote: > > > For the past 4 weeks and some 40 hours on my PC I > have been > > trying to backup/copy a complete partition to > another drive > > using the "Lexun Backup Solution" to no avail. > I've given up. > > However one thing that he and partitionMagic > specify is one > > cannot backup a copy of an OS while that OS is > the active OS. > > One must install another OS and make it active. > > How does XXCOPY get around this requirement? > > Once this is answered I have more questions. > > I once saw Lexun software web page with their > "LexanBackup" > solution which was later retracted (I was about to > examine > their scheme in detail because they claimed that > they had > a solution).
