Downloading the new version is one thing but to install it properly so that the new version is really invoked is still in question (for some reason, many people seem to keep old version somewhere it is still invoked. I have a hunch that your installation or the invocation was not right. That's because no one else has reported the /WV related warning on WinXP SP-1 with XXCOPY v.2.84.0. If you read my earlier message here, I was telling someone to locate and remove old versions of XXCOPY.EXE files (or rename them) so that you are always running the correct version of XXCOPY. Three things control the warning message: 1. The XXCOPY.EXE program is older than the OS. Please check the version number just by observing the first line that XXCOPY display on the screen. Is it really v.2.84.0? 2. Windows Version is newer than those we are aware of. Please type the following command at the DOS prompt: ver If you see something other than Microsfot Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] then, you do have a newer version that we don't know anything about. 3. The following files that XXCOPY relies on are newer than XXCOPY itself. C:\windows\system32\kernel32.dll C:\windows\system32\user32.dll Please check the file date of the above: dir c:\windows\system32\kernel32.dll dir c:\windows\system32\user32.dll The filedate of these files are checked against the filedate of XXCOPY.EXE. If they are newer than XXCOPY, then, the environment (could be recently released by Microsoft). If any of the three conditions is detected, XXCOPY will give you the warning. You may suppress this warning if you own the XXCOPY-Pro site license. Freeware users will have to download the latest version to avoid the warning if the OS environment is newer than XXCOPY. This feature is to reduce tech support calls by Freeware users who complain problems with old versions of XXCOPY. To support very old versions of our product is really pain in the neck (to repeatedly tell them to download the new version that has fixed the reported problem long time ago). Even though the same is true with paid licensees, we have more tolerance to paid customers. Kan Yabumoto
