Using win98se I have never had the install.bat work correctly for me. I installed version 2.82.9 some short time ago, just before the newer version came out. There were confusing and seemingly repetitive prompts but it did complete, ignoring my stated folder destination. Your new install.bat will not work on win98 will it? May I suggest that you include the intended os in the name of the batch file. Perhaps the following: instal98.bat instalnt.bat instalxp.bat etc. Anything done well for win98 will work everywhere?? Or prompt for the user's OS from install.bat. Or trap the output from the ver command and parse it. I prefer to put the new xxcopy as a sub folder to my c:\u\ folder and then I copy the running files to the c:\u\ folder. Then I can easily back out the new version if need be (haven't had to so far). This makes access from a dos boot much easier for me using the following command sequence: c: cd u -- Jon Hugdahl 1) Keep all your agreements. 2) Do not encroach on other's person or property.
