In the case of XXCOPY install, extra files in the temporary directory does not interfere with the operation. But, again, there is no reason to keep the temporary directory cluttered with lots of junk. When we say "copy this to a temporary directory" and use c:\temp in the example, don't take it too literary. It is prudent to keep things simple; to avoid possible interference with other junk, when we use an example with c:\temp and if you already have a c:\temp with a bunch of junk files, you do a reasonable thing: 1. delete everything in the c:\temp directory, before using the directory for the new occasion. 2. take the liberty of using a fresh temp directory c:\temp ---> substitute with c:\temp123 We don't always add a disclaimer saying "if you already have the c:\temp directory, delete everything in it or rename existing c:\temp to c:\temp.old and create a new one." For one thing, if you use an existing directory for temporary purpose, it may be difficult for you to tell which one to discard after the install. Kan Yabumoto
