Hi, I have discovered that xxcopy has problems copying files or directories=20 with accentuated characters. I use french version of Win XP home to copy from a NTFS drive to a FAT32 dr= ive. Example copied from the batch output console result : G:\Photos\Shows\`34.tmp Del= eted G:\Photos\Shows\`35.tmp Del= eted C:\Photos\Shows\Mad=E8re.sli = 888 C:\Photos\Shows\P=E9rou.sli = 1 107 These two files, Mad=E8re and P=E9rou, were not changed. Each backup result= s in=20 a creation of tmp files which will be deleted at next backup. Another example copied from the batch output console result : G:\S_\ScanJob\`6.tmp Proce= ssed G:\S_\ScanJob\`6.tmp\`4.tmp Del= eted G:\S_\ScanJob\`6.tmp\`5.tmp Del= eted C:\Program Files\DS_Dual2\Job\D=E9faut\D=E9faut.135 = 246 C:\Program Files\DS_Dual2\Job\D=E9faut\D=E9faut.APS = 246 The backup files and directories are in general not recognizable, and the=20 user gets no warning I saw in another thread that Unicode characters are not handled by xxcopy.= =20 If this is the problem: - you should explain that limitation clearly in the FAQ or in the=20 documentation. Users don't know they are handling Unicode characters, they= =20 only see accentuated characters. In the doc, Unicode limitation is only=20 indicated with command files - this behaviour can be very annoying for non-english users because they=20 don't limit their file and directory names anymore. The result may be=20 entire directories needlessly copied. Sorry to be so negative, as xxcopy is a very smart program in other aspects= . Bemaly
