Some stand alone PC users won't take on the task of adding a second hard disk (even on USB) but would settle for some backup capability using just an extra drive. If they are comfortable with the FDISK and FORMAT procedures in Kan's TB#10 there is a free drive re-sizer called PRESIZER that fits onto the 95 or ME start-up diskette (and 98 without DRVSPACE). Presizer can shrink C without data loss and thus free up the space to create a D drive with FDISK + FORMAT. After that XXCOPY's /BACKUP or /CLONE can be used for holistic or selective backup in the usual way. The download is available from www.zeleps.com but users who already "know" the instructions would be wise to avoid skipping them this time! Bob Weir
