I am please to announce that I am back up to speed. Thanks to Kam Yabumoto and "mycatsbreath2003"

As I mentioned before, I aquired & Ran AdAware & Grisoft's AVR. I already have PC-cillin2003 on my machine. I checkedmy startup in MSCONFIG very carefulle and made sure only that whict one MUST run was being started, I turned off everything else. I went into the autoexec.bat and REM 'ed out everything I did not recognize. then I restarted my laptop. I then went to close control and let systray and Explorer be the only remaining lines in the close box.

Brought up my 'host' machine with the added backup drive and using a batch file to Map the Lap_top Drive (C:) to be Z:\ on my network and restarted the xxcopy which is called from a batch file and it took off like "Gang Busters"

In 31 minutes it copied copied 21,914 files and the action rate in (MB/MIN) was 38.04.

I am most pleased. and am most grateful for the assistance.
