It certainly /looks/ as if XXCOPY is causing the problem by writing outside the primary partition G: onto the extension H:. > > -R. XXCOPY is one programme where I am sure that the software will do what it is told to do. The first cloning of a large amount can take a long time, especially if there are a lot of failures to copy due to transient errors. I wonder if your installation of XXCOPY (presumably on C) is corrupted or if you have some problem with C itself. I think I would have booted the new drive and then tried to copy and verify data from the old but I hope someone more expert than I has a better idea of what is happening and what to do next. Bob
