Indeed! About 3 hours for the larger C: disk -- although I'm not
sure what you mean by "transient errors". The C:D: combo is my
production system, in use daily. And I do run SCANDISK at least
weekly, as part of my backup and general health program.

XXCOPY.EXE in the WINDOWS\COMMAND folder compares to that in the
downloaded .ZIP. (CRC checksums make it unlikely that the downloaded
.ZIP is corrupted.)

How, without first placing /something/ on the new drive to boot
