I know that XXCOPY properly duplicates short file names when performing a copy operation (assuming destination folders are empty, or contain no file with an SFN that is the same as the SFN of a source file). My issue is this: I'd like to use a command line file compression utility in combination with XXCOPY. Specifically, I'd like to copy a folder(s) using XXCOPY, then run the command line version of Winzip (or equivalent) to compress the destination folder (s). My problem is, I don't trust that the ZIP utility will properly duplicate the SFNs when it zips or unzips the files. Does anyone know of a compression utility that does properly duplicate short file names?
