Hi all - I have a batch file that loops and it uses a skeleton reference directory (zero byte files) for filtering out a new group of files to copy, using /sz:1-/qbl:650M, in each cycle of the loop until all files in source are copied to the destination in date/time named directories. As the batch ran 4 files showed "copy failed" in each cycle. In each loop the files successfully copied to destination are then moved from temp to the reference directory as 0 byte files overwriting the full sized files there. I discovered that the 4 files are read-only files that *did not* get copied/moved back to the reference directory as 0 byte files using /RCY/R/Tr0, as I would have expected, why? I ran a simple test (see error log below) to try and understand what was going wrong. I can't see any conflict in the switches I used. If I add /BU or /BI or even /BZX to my command-line then the file in destination gets overwritten correctly! If I remove /RCY from the command-line the file is copied correctly! It seems to me that /RCY/R alone should do this, right? I'm running XXCOPY PRO v2.84.9 in Win98SE and any help would be greatly appreciated. ====================================================================== ========= XXCOPY ver 2.84.9 2003-08-08 16:37:16 Windows Ver 4.10.2222 Command Line = C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\XXCOPY.EXE "h:\xxtest\test_1 \" "h:\xxtest\test_2\" /rcy/ed/pd0/ks/r/s/y/oa:h:\xxtest\xxerr.log ---------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Switch Parameters /AXH /AXS /B0 /C /CA /CB0 /CCY /CK /CR3 /D0 /DL0 /E0 /EC0 /ED /ER0 /F 0 /FM0 /FF0 /FL /FT0 /FW /H0 /I0 /IN* /KS /L0 /N0 /NP0 /NX /NI0 /NW /NC0 /oAh:\xxtest\xxerr.log /oD1 /oE0 /oF1 /oI0 /oP0 /oS0 /oX0 /P0 /PB0 /P C0 /PD0 /PN /Po0 /PZ0 /Q0 /QF0 /QB0 /QS0 /R /RCY /S /SP0 /SG0 /SX0 SZ:- /T0 /TR00 /TS0 /TD0 /TTA0 /TCA0 /TCC0 /TCW /TM0 /U0 /V0 /W0 /WD /WV /Y /Z0 /ZE0 /ZS0 /ZX0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Source base directory = "H:\xxtest\test_1\" Destination directory = "H:\xxtest\test_2\" File name template = "*" H:\xxtest\test_1\test.txt Copy failed ---------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Directories processed = 1 Total data in bytes = 0 Elapsed time in sec. = 0.004 Action speed (MB/min) = 0 Files examined = 1 Files copied = 0 Files copy failed = 1 Log File Appended = h:\xxtest\xxerr.log Exit code = 101 (Exit code is the number of failures plus 100) Thanks, dayvah49
