I'm not sure I've got the full picture but it seems that the problem relates to why the file can't be deleted. I tried using /rcy/r on a read only file and it was deleted OK so I don't think it's a problem with your switches or Xxcopy. It might be a file in use issue. Try adding /oe3 to your switches which will give more detail on why the copy failed. Garry
